Leaving for Sayers Croft
We are glad to say the children left around 9.30 on the coach to Sayers Croft.
It was a busy morning, organising suitcases and medication, but we got there in the end.
18 children and 2 adults loaded themselves into the coach and set off successfully.
(Mrs. Carrington is heading down later in the day to be their 3rd supervising adult - thank you for stepping in at the last moment.)
Have a great trip guys - see you on Friday.
Romans Assemble
One of the first activities our children had upon arrival at Sayers Croft was down at The Roundhouse, where they learned about Roman activity in Britain. There was even the chance to dress up and be drilled like the Roman army.
Wild Things!
On the first evening, our troup of Year 6 relaxed around the camp fire, where they toasted marshmallows and had some fun.
Navigation experts
Our children have been learning how to navigate their way through the woods - some were even blindfolded, so they had to learn to trust directions given by their friends.
Shelter from the storm
The children have also been learning how to build strong shelters in the wilds from resources they can find around themselves... these shelters have to be tough enough to withstand the wild winds and rainstorms... not sure I'd like to spend the night in them though...
Aiming high
This afternoon, the children have been learning the old saying; "Teamwork makes the dream work" as they worked to support each other through climbing exercises. What a valuable lesson about pulling together and offering safety and support, while overcoming our fear of heights too! Well done Year 6.
