First Blog - Back to school after Easter.

Well...

it is almost the end of the first week back at school after the Easter holidays and already those holidays seem like such a long time ago.

It has been so lovely to see all of the children returning in their smart uniforms (some with their new post-lockdown haircuts) and all eager to be back at school. We have even welcomed some new children to our school family, including a batch of Rising 3s to the Nursery in the afternoon. To see them all arrive and then leave each day, you would not tell the difference between those who have been here a while and the newer children - good proof that all have settled really well.

Behaviour, as always, has been exemplary. Yes, we have had a few knocks and scrapes and a few ups and downs, but every little setback has been resolved quickly and with our Christian values in mind. Our children really have shown that they are owning their choices and loving themselves and each other as God loves them as they make amends for any wrong choices, or accidents.

Learning has also returned as close to normal as we can make it for now... The children are remaining in their Year Group bubbles, but within those bubbles are having access to a broad and balanced curriculum. Already I have been shown good examples of children applying their knowledge and skills to amazing pieces of learning this term - they are really giving learning their best. I am really looking forward to Science week on the week of 10th May, when the children will be involved in exciting and creative learning activities. Hopefully we can gather lots of photographs to show their amazing efforts.

Unfortunately, as the sun has come out, we are still unable to go for learning visits to Museums and Galleries, due to the risks involved in taking the children on public transport. This has also affected our ability to go to Willesden Sports Centre for swimming lessons this term. However, with restrictions being lifted over the next few months, we do look forward to being able to take these opportunities up again from September onwards.

This term we have seen the return of Ms Jude from her maternity leave. Ms Jude has taken over the Year 3 class from Miss Kanagasooriam, who left us at the Easter break. Thankfully Ms Jude knows this class very well as she taught them when they were in Year 2. Again, with the level of learning and the atmosphere in the class, it is as if Ms Jude had never been away and it is great to see her back in school again.

This term we are looking forward to starting our work on the 2 garden areas in order to refurbish them and create planting spaces and outside learning areas for the children. Mr Hardy has already begun to strip out the old Enchanted Garden area and hopefully we can have quite a bit more of the work completed before the start of the summer holidays.

It really is promising to be an exciting term ahead!
