Staying safe from Terrorism - NSPCC

In light of recent events, please click the link to the NSPCC below about how to support children worried about terrorism.

- Protection from sexual abuse -

Whilst its an uncomfortable thought, parents need to ask questions of any childcare provider, play scheme or holiday centre children's services, about how they prevent their workers harming a child. The NSPCC has a useful video about the prevention of sexual abuse in particular and what adults can do to ask organisations about how they keep children safe. You can watch the video here:

- Emergency Contacts -

It is vital that we have up to date contact information, so that we can contact you quickly in case of emergency. Please ensure that we have a telephone number where we can reach you at all times throughout the day. Please remember to update this information if you move or change your number.

- E-Safety -

The Internet is a fantastic learning resource but how often do we stop and ask ourselves 'how safe are we being?' The many electronic devices available provide an amazing Internet experience but how secure are they? Being safe online is paramount at Christ Church and we would encourage our children to be safe online beyond the schools gates.

"E-Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at school. To support us with this the Christ Church community - all pupils, staff, governors and parents are encouraged to sign our acceptable use policy." - Mr Kelly, Headteacher

Tuesday 9th February is Safer Internet Day - to celebrate this we are holding a lots of different events and activities for students and parents of Christ Church Brondesbury Primary School. The children will be doing different activities focused on staying safe on-line while t parents will have an opportunity to join us for a session on accessing and setting parental controls on home internet devices. Some of their feedback from last year can be found below:

"Mr Williams gave us some tips on how to protect our kids from video games that are not age-appropriate."

"We learned how to work with the children and discuss the parental controls with them. Very good seminar."

At Christ Church Brondesbury we take the online safety of our children and staff very seriously. Over the past year we have held several events to promote safe Internet use and raise awareness of how to tackle cyber-bullying.

One of these events was specifically for parents and the session covered ways to deal with cyber bullying, grooming and inappropriate websites. Below, you can see photos taken at the event.

The other session was a whole-school assembly, which looked at staying safe online, especially whilst playing video games. All years were in attendance for this event and the children played an active part in deciding on the best ways to tackle this issue.
