It is imperative that your child reads for 20 minutes each evening.
Please also question your child on what they have read to see if your child can summarise what has been read and actually understands the context of the word and the content of the text read.
It may be useful to select a few words and ask your child what the meaning of those words are, which will assist with decoding of text.
Where a definition is unknown, please ensure your child writes this word down in a note book and looks up the definition and writes this along side the word.
This will only boost your child's vocabulary bank which will help them in composition and transcription.
