Home Learning
Wk 6 08.12.25
Dear Parents/Carers,
Please ensure you check which pages your child needs to complete for Home Learning and confirm that the work is finished and ready to bring in on Monday.
We’ve noticed a pattern where some children are not attempting or even looking at their Home Learning. This is unfair to those who consistently complete their tasks (and reading) each week.
Missing Home Learning can lead to gaps in knowledge, making the next sequence of lessons more challenging for your child.
I would greatly appreciate your support so we can work together to ensure every child stays on track.

Weekly Spellings - 10 spellings
Unfortunately, test results have dipped this week, so please aim for at least 80% next week Monday!
Please practise saying and writing your spelling words often. You can even act them out to help remember the words and spelling rules.

Writing Expectations
Please answer all questions to the best of your ability .
-
Answers should be written in full sentences and read back to ensure they make sense.
-
Handwriting must be legible and neatly presented.
-
Clear evidence of cursive formation for the letters a, c, d, g, o, s and q is expected.

Reading Records
Thank you also to the children who consistently read every night and bring in Reading Records daily as it is very apparent in your writing/vocabulary.
Expectations and Guidance
-
Daily Reading: Children should read at home every day for at least 15–20 minutes.
-
Timely Entries: Reading entries must be recorded on the actual day the reading takes place. For example, Tuesday’s reading should be logged on Tuesday evening, not retrospectively.
-
Discussion: Encourage your child to talk about what they’ve read—characters, events, new words or predictions.
-
Book Variety: Children should read a mix of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and school books as well as books from home or the library.
Children are to complete in pencil, note the title including the author and a sentence about what they have read. These are to be brought in daily.

Children will soon begin taking home a Little Wandle or colour-banded book to read alongside their daily reading. These books are to be read at home throughout the week.
Home Learning books/tasks must be returned the following Monday to ensure tasks are reviewed and new activities can be set.
Thank you for your continued support with home learning and reading routines.
Due date: Monday 15th December 2025.
