NHS Food Swaps Campaign

for healthier eating

Scan, Swipe and Swap your way to better health!

At Christ Church Primary School we encourage children to have healthier habits. One way to encourage this is by using the ultimate healthy hack, the free Food Scanner app from Better Health.

Our children learn what a balanced diet looks like and why it is important to know what is in our food and drink. Therefore they can make simple, healthier eating swaps using the free Food Scanner app.

By simply scanning and swiping barcodes, the app shows how much saturated fat, salt and sugar is in everyday foods and drinks and gives suggestions for healthier alternatives. A fun augmented reality feature helps you celebrate your good choices.

By making a few easy swaps, you can make a real difference to your child’s health. Download the Food Scanner app on the Apple app store or Google Play store.

Dear Parent / Carer   (Christchurch Primary School)

School based Vision and Hearing Screening Catch- Up Programme

Vison and Hearing Screening is usually offered to children at age 4 – 5. Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic we were not able to offer Hearing and Vision screening in 2020/21, when your child would have been offered to be screened. We are now able to offer a catch- up programme for the children currently in Year 1. We are working in partnership with your child’s school. Vision and Hearing screening is very important, especially for learning and development. Vision and Hearing screening is part of the Healthy Child Programme offered by the School Nursing Service in Brent.

We aim to avoid further delay, as it is it important that your child receives Vision and Hearing screening as soon as possible. Your child’s school will confirm the specific dates of the screening sessions for your child.

The School Health Service are now using an electronic method of communication which is a faster, more efficient and a safer way to deliver your child's health information

STEP 1: Please either register for an account if this is your first time using the Thomson  parent portal or login if you have already created an account. If this is your first time registering you will receive an email to confirm your account and set a password.

STEP 2: Once you login you can read the information on this year's Vision & Hearing screening and submit the form so that you can receive your electronic results letters. You will have the opportunity to opt out of the Vision & Hearing Screening, in particular if your child is under professional care / wears glasses/ attends an eye clinic/ optician or wears hearing aids/ attends an audiology clinic, otherwise we will assume that you are happy for your child to be screened.

Please submit the form within 2 weeks of receiving this link.
