Five Mile Films are currently in the process of casting for a warm, funny new BBC series called Will You Be My Friend? (working title), all about childhood friendships. 

We’re looking for children aged 5 to 8 who find it hard to make friends. They might struggle to fit in, get overwhelmed around other children, or feel safer behind a screen. Many are funny and confident at home but struggle to show that side of themselves when they meet potential new friends. Across three half-days, a team of child psychologists help them build the social skills and confidence to form lasting connections with other kids, before matching them on a play date with a potential new friend from their local area. Filming is planned for July and August, 2026 (during the summer holidays).
