Science Week 2026
During the science workshop, the children explored a range of exciting hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world around them. They investigated chemical reactions through fun experiments like colourful lava lamps and “elephant toothpaste,” discovering how different substances interact. They learned how sound is created by vibrations and how bigger vibrations make louder noises. Through fizzy rocket activities, they explored forces and motion, seeing how pushes and pulls affect how objects move. They also observed how plants transport water using capillary action, watching colours travel through stems just like water moves through real plants. As material detectives, they tested why some items float and others sink by learning about density. It was a day full of discovery, creativity, and scientific wonder!
This year’s Science Week focused on the theme “Curiosity: What’s your question?”, encouraging children to explore and investigate the wonders of the world around them. Reception and Year 1 pupils explored which paper aeroplane design works best. They created and tested their own aeroplanes and helicopters to see which ones travelled the farthest, finishing the activity with an exciting outdoor aeroplane race!
