We’re excited to have a movie afternoon this Thursday to celebrate getting through the term and enjoy a little classroom fun before the holidays!   If possible, we’d appreciate your help with a few items:

Fruit (fruit salad-style pieces for easy sharing)

Breadsticks

Cookies

Mini cupcakes

Popcorn

Juice

Thank you so much for your continued support with all things Year 2—it’s greatly appreciated!

Writing Expectations

Please answer all questions to the best of your ability .

  • Answers should be written in full sentences and read back to ensure they make sense.

  • Handwriting must be legible and neatly presented.

  • Clear evidence of cursive formation for the letters a, c, d, g, o, and q is expected.

Reading Records

Thank you also to the children who consistently read every night and bring in Reading Records daily as it is very apparent in your writing/vocabulary.

Expectations and Guidance
  • Daily Reading: Children should read at home every day for at least 15–20 minutes.

  • Timely Entries: Reading entries must be recorded on the actual day the reading takes place. For example, Tuesday’s reading should be logged on Tuesday evening, not retrospectively.

  • Discussion: Encourage your child to talk about what they’ve read—characters, events, new words or predictions.

  • Book Variety: Children should read a mix of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and school books as well as books from home or the library.

Children are to complete in pencil, note the title including the author and a sentence about what they have read.  These are to be brought in daily.

Children will soon begin taking home a Little Wandle or colour-banded book to read alongside their daily reading. These books are to be read at home throughout the week.

Home Learning books/tasks must be returned the following Monday to ensure tasks are reviewed and new activities can be set.

Thank you for your continued support with home learning and reading routines.

Due date: Tuesday 6th January 2026
