Amber heat & health warning

Helping children to cope with the heat during the school day
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you may be aware, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued an Amber Heat-Health Alert which is currently in place until 8:00pm on Tuesday 23rd June.
At Christ Church our top priority is the health, safety and comfort of our pupils. While we want the children to enjoy the sunshine, we must take sensible precautions to ensure they stay safe and well-hydrated during the school day.
To help us manage the high temperatures, please ensure your child comes to school prepared with the following essential items every day:
Daily Essentials Checklist
- Named Water Bottle: Please send your child with a reusable, clearly named water bottle.
- Sun Hat: A cap or wide-brimmed hat is highly recommended to protect your child’s face and head during break times and outdoor activities.
- Sun Cream: Please apply a high-factor (SPF 30+) sun cream to your child before they come to school in the morning. If they need to reapply it at lunchtime, please send a named bottle in their bag. Children must able apply this themselves before they go outside (but not during learning time).
During this time, we ask that children do not wear heavy coats, school jumpers or ties. If they wish, they can choose to come to school in PE kits - but these must be in school colours. If children do not wish to wear their PE kit, they can come in white shirts as normal.
To keep the children as comfortable as possible, we will closely monitor the temperatures throughout the day and adjust activities accordingly.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in keeping our school community safe and comfortable during this warm spell.
If you have any specific concerns regarding your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Kind regards,
Mr Kelly
