On 29th January, Year 3 were invited to take part in a Lantern-Making workshop with artist Lavinia Cascone.

The lanterns are being made as part of a festival called Light Up Kilburn, which will feature a trail of illuminated, engaging, and playful light-based artworks bringing light, colour and creativity to Kilburn High Road and Kilburn Grange Park.

The festival will take place over three weekends from Friday 9th to Sunday 25^th in February 2024. 

Some of the lanterns will be part of a closing parade on Saturday 24th February, where participants will follow a large-scale light puppet and be accompanied by music celebrating the heritage of the Kilburn music scene. The aim of the project is to light the way and shine a spotlight on cultural identity, symbolism, community and creativity.
