Telling Tales - Where Imaginations Come To Life! Every Saturday from May 22 until 3 July (except the Half Term)
A Free 6-week course for children aged 7-11

A Free Six-Week Programme of Writing Stories and Poems for Children aged 7-11

Calling all 7-11 year olds to join our FREE six-week programme. You will develop, create and perform stories and poems with RAP artist, writer and poet BREIS https://breismusic.wordpress.com/about/
Children will need to attend for all the 6 dates. Places are limited, those that apply first will be successful.
At the end of the six weeks, there will be a live performance for friends and families to come along and listen! This programme is organised with Brent libraries.
Throughout the project, the young people will work towards a Discover Arts Award. (www.artsaward.org.uk)
Workshops will be held on Saturdays at 11.00am to 12 noon.

BOOKLETS AND ARTS & CRAFTS PACK INCLUDED:
These will be posted to you after attending the first Saturday session to confirm your commitment and attendance to the programme.
A self-addressed envelope will also be included in the pack for you to post back the completed Discover Arts Award booklet. This is important to ensure your child receives the award!

Regular Events
Term-time only - Booksart Under 5s Story and Rhyme Session.
Join us for 30 minutes of story and rhyme times for under 5s featuring all your favourite stories and nursery rhymes! Lots of fun, laughs and learning for you and your little one, all from the comfort of home.
Maths on Toast (Monthly) Saturday 24 April 12.30 – 1.30pm
Join us and become a Maths on Toast spy! When you think of secret agents, you might think of disguises, magnifying glasses, foreign travel… but would you think of maths? Help us on our secret mission to crack codes and unravel secret messages using your logical and mathematical thinking.
Write a secret message after the session, then why not see if anyone can crack it? Suitable for children aged 4 - 12 and their families.
Easter Holiday Events for all the Family
Boom! Tuesday 30 Mar 6.30 – 7.30pm
Join illustrator Diana Ford and writer Jennifer Lunn as they read and discuss their book Boom! This is an adult event.
Created in collaboration with Drs Laura Haywood, Hayden Wilson and Katy Johnson, Boom! was designed to help families explore the emotional tangles and troubles that came with all being stuck at home. Boom! was self-published digitally and free printed copies were circulated through grass roots community groups to families experiencing digital poverty across the UK.

Join Total Insight Theatre for a story about the most beautiful bird in the world who lived with a kind farmer who lived all alone. One day the Queen in a distant land asked for the bird, a peacock, to come to her castle and join her collection of the most beautiful things in the world. On the way the peacock meets lots of people in some very difficult situations and helps them out by giving them his feathers - leading to a tricky situation when he reaches the castle! Total Insight Theatre say: Our online workshops are designed to invite children to go on a virtual adventure with our theatremakers and popular puppets, building confidence and teamwork through interactive games and storytelling.
Wednesday 7 April 2.00 – 3.00pm and Wednesday 14 April 2:00 – 3.00pm
Join bestselling cartoonist James from Comic Club for an eye-popping cartoon workshop! Learn secret skills used by the professionals, and create your own awesome Japanese manga style chibi supercharacters in an epic action-packed showdown! Design heroes, Villains, secret powers, cool costumes, cute sidekicks... the only limits are the limits of the imagination! Perfect for 7 - 11 years - all you need is a pencil, rubber, paper, and optional black outliner and colours!
Thursday 8 April 11.30am – 12.30pm and Thursday 8 April 2.00-3.00pm
Join children’s author/performer Gareth P Jones for a collection of interactive songs, raps, stories and storytelling, all about his books, including his latest picture book, Rabunzel, his popular series, Ninja Meerkats and his recently published books, Dragon Detective.
Tuesday 13 April 11:00am – 12noon
As the seasons change, join storyteller John Kirk as he brings the best of the outdoors indoors, for a very special story hunt! This interactive scavenger hunt storytelling session is guaranteed to be 30 minutes of fun and will get you in the mood to reconnect with nature; whether it's a walk in the woods, exploring the park or just sitting in the garden, the sun's out and it's time to play!

To borrow books with your card download the Libby App and you will find a great selection to choose from.
If you have a library card and can’t remember the number or PIN code please email libraries@brent.gov.uk with the name of the card holder, the postcode of the card holder and the date of birth of the card holder.
If you haven’t used your library card for 2 years it will no longer be valid and you will need to join again. Joining a library is free and there is no charge to use the e-library.
