As you may be aware, Brent is experiencing high rates of poor oral health in its children. Currently, 44% of five-year-olds in Brent have decayed, missing, or filled teeth - the highest rate in the country.

What’s happened so far:

As part of our efforts to tackle this statistic, over the last four years, Brent Public Health team have delivered the “Oral Health Bus” initiative. This involved visiting parks, recreational areas and schools with dentists to carry out dental checks for children and make referrals for onward care. The programme has been a huge success, with over 1500 children benefitting from the programme to date.

Summer 2025:

This year we are building on that success and are organising summer events to be held across the borough at Brent Libraries.
